Let's say you have a chassis like this http://www.supermicro.com/products/chas ... 1200LP.cfm

o/s: Win Server 2012 (installed on separate internal boot drives)
Slot 0 - 3: SAS or SATA SSD
Slot 4 - 23: SATA 1TB 7200 RPM HDD

How would you configure LSFS in v8.0 to take advantage of the SSDs?

Did someone (from Starwind) say there is a NAS configurator in v8.0? Or am I just dreaming

Question 1: I wasn't able to find any reporting in the new console...is there a different console for this? Or am I just blind...
Question 2: I saw a PowerShell component during installation - any details on this??

1) What type of reporting are interested in?
Select server in the tree on the left pane. On the right panel you'll see several tabs. There will be Performance and Event log.
If you are interested in event notifications, they can be set on the Configuration tab: select "Event notifications" option in the list.

2) StarWindX is a management component for StarWind server. It can be used to manage StarWind devices from other applications or scripts.

Samples for PowerShell moudle are located in folder:
c:\Program Files\StarWind Software\StarWind\StarWindX\Samples\powershell
Help is integrated to PowerShell, use the following command to get reference on module:
get-help StarWindX
or get-help <command name> for the information on specific command:
To see the examples, type: "get-help Add-HADevice -examples".
For more information, type: "get-help Add-HADevice -detailed".
For technical information, type: "get-help Add-HADevice -full".

Samples for COM object are located in folder:
c:\Program Files\StarWind Software\StarWind\StarWindX\Samples\powershell
Reference on COM-object is located in:
c:\Program Files\StarWind Software\StarWind8-20130905\StarWindX\Help\StarWindX.chm

You may either use all SSDs as L2 cache for LSFS devices or use one part of SSD space as L2 cache and the second part as an underlying storage for LSFS devices which servers the most HDD performance critical servers.
It is possible to configure dedicated L2 cache for each LSFS device.

1) Use all SSDs as L2 cache for LSFS
or
2) Configure dedicated L2 cache for each LSFS

If you need the performance only you need to use SSD not for cache but to reside StarWind disks there, as my colleague mentioned

How do you increase the lsfs cache? I have 32gb of ram and it's only allocating 10mb?

How much did you allocate on the L1 cache settings page?

I set it to max cache. But even still it only uses 75% of the ram, there is ample left over.

Maximum value for cache size is calculated as 75% of available physical memory. You can set any value by entering the value manually.

10 mb is internal low-level cache of LSFS library.
