First I would like to thank you for providing such a excellent product for free.

I have a situation with Starwind in using with SCVMM2012 sp1.

Here's my env:

1. Installed and configured starwind on Windows 8 client box. Its a non-domain box.
2. two hyper-v boxes. One of the box VM's has DC1 and SCVMM2012. They are all on domain.
3. installed SMI-S provider on SCVMM2012 but I have HostAgentFail error.

For ConfiguratorConsole.exe :
Host IP: my windows 8 box ip
device path: My Computer\\C\\iSCSITargetDisks\\VMMDisk1.img

What should be my RAA?
And provider IP address is my windows 8 box correct?

Thanks

Hi,

After installing a new beta version of both iSCSI and SMI-S , I was able to add the Storage pool in SCVMM 2012 SP1.
The connection was without SSL on port 5988

After I presented the Storage pool to Hyper-V I had to press "create a session" button in hyper-v server properties / Storage in order the Storage pool be available to Hyper-V.
I tried create a LUN inside SCVMM 2012 but failed.
The procedure is hyper-v server properties / Storage / Add / Add disk / fill the data (size, MBR, etc. ) and try format.

I saw inside in Starwind Management Console that device was created but not attached to target.

Also in Hyper-V server the LUN is not visible in Windows Configuration Manager or disk management.

Is this option available in StarWind SMI-S version? If yes could you please provide the steps to configure?

regards,
Ivan

adding one more comment:

Is it part of procedure Attach manually the device to target in Starwind Managemente Console?

or SCVMM 2012 SP1 does it ?

Dear ivanm,
I tried create a LUN inside SCVMM 2012 but failed.
Could you post full error message?

It should be available.

VMM should do this as a part of the disk assigning process.

When you create LUN using VMM StarWind device will be created (without target).
When you assign previously created LUN to some host StarWind Target will be created and previously created StarWind Device will be attached to this target.
