Thanks Alex...

So assuming I'm doing the sums correctly.... (I'm using 1TB = 1024 GB, 1GB = 1024 MB, 1MB = 1024 KB)

Code: Select all

fast sync write ops before hours before full sync
Target size (bytes) log size (bytes) full sync necessarry 100 iops 1000 iops
==========================================================================================
  2TB 2,199,023,255,552 395,824,186 32,985,349 91.6 9.2
  1TB 1,099,511,627,776 197,912,093 16,492,674 45.8 4.6
512GB 549,755,813,888 98,956,047 8,246,337 22.9 2.3
256GB 274,877,906,944 49,478,024 4,123,169 11.5 1.1
128GB 137,438,953,472 24,739,012 2,061,584 5.7 0.6
 64GB 68,719,476,736 12,369,506 1,030,792 2.9 0.3
e.g. if your target was sustaining an average of 100 write ops per second, and it was 1TB in size, you would have almost 46 hours to fix a failed node before a full sync would be necessarry.

Hi,

Alexey, about your statement regarding WB and Wt Fast Init availability, are you 100% sure that Fast Init is already available for WB configutation in HA mode? When you setup a HA device, at the very end of the process when selecting cache properties, if you choose WB it clearly mentions that Fast Init is not supported (running latest beta v5.5 Build 20100831)

Thanks

StarWind V5.5 is released now. Don't use beta builds any more.

Hi!

Just started testing version 5.5. Due to the weekend i use my homenetwork (100mbit / vista clients / starwind server on vista .... i know that this is not an ideal environment...will test it on some real server hardware/software later).

However, I have an issue with targets when using the operation mode snapshot/CDP. When i create them, connect a client to the iSCSI target, the Stawind server service keeps crasing immediately once i start accessing/formating the volume.

If i remove the snap/cdp device everything seems to be fine.

I was able to reproduce this behaviour on another Starwind 5.5 install.

Best regards
Mirko

It's V5.6 released now BTW, not V5.5.

We don't have public V5.7 beta yet. Probably in 2-3 weeks from now we'll have something more or less working to leak outside the company.
