I originally wanted to post in the sub-forum "StarWind V2V Converter, P2V Migrator." Unfortunately, I keep getting kicked out or don't have permission to post there.
Therefore, it would be nice if the thread could be moved. I hope that I will still be able to respond once it is moved.
I have a problem converting a VM (Linux Suse Enterprise 10) from ESXi Host 5.5 to a Hyper-V Host. After conversion, the VM does not boot in Hyper-V.
In ESXi, the VM’s hard drive is set up as SCSI. The converter creates a new Hyper-V VM in Gen1 and attaches the hard drive as IDE. During boot, the error appears that the hard drive cannot be recognized.
I have tried the following:
- Conversion from ESXi Host to a newly created VM (by the converter)
- Conversion to an existing Gen2 VM in Hyper-V (hoping the converter would adjust the hard drive parameters)
- Changed the VM’s (ESXi) VMDK to IDE via SSH access and then converted it to a Gen1 VM
Does anyone have any advice on how I can successfully convert the VM to Hyper-V?
Thanks to all
