Physical machine to VM file greyed out.

Hello. I am new to this software and would like to try convert my existing machine to a VM for hosting.
I have downloaded and used StarWind V2V Converter (9.0.1.772) Here are my steps.
1. P2V (Convert physical machine or disk)
2. Entire machine (Migrate this physical machine to a new virtual machine)
3. (Select disk volumes to convert) - Even if i am unsure on what to select, it doesn't matter what combination I use here
4. (Local file) - Unable to select. It is greyed out. ERROR
No matter what I do, I cannot get it to write a file even to an external drive. It will not allow selection.
Can anyone tell me what is going on? I have even tried re-booting in case it's some sort of low-level block device that needs kernel access or something.
