Hello team,

got couple of inquiries regarding the pre-requisites to convert Hyper-V server to VMware vCenter.

1- What are the requirements? i'll be installing StarWind on laptop and the laptop should be able to see both hyper-v server and vCenter.

i've got VLANs configured

2- What are the requirements? as of firewall ports and laptop resources?

Thanks in advance

Welcome to StarWind Forum!
You can run the conversion from the laptop that can talk to both Hyper-V VMs and VMware vCenter.

As plan B you can always convert the VMs to OVF.

p.s. Try ticking Windows repair mode and consider converting individual disks.
P.p.s. You can always edit your post.

Thanks for your reply! ,

what do you mean by ticking windows repair mode? and do you mean on the hyper-v server or host or laptop? also the host is running multiple VMs (not all going to be converted) so will that effect the other VMs?

i still havnt done the migration but im bit afraid since those are very critical VMs. also one other question. does starwind migrate VMs that has applications or databases without issues? such as CRM and filesystems , etc..

Greetings,
also the host is running multiple VMs (not all going to be converted) so will that effect the other VMs?
You need to run the converter on the host and select the P2V option. I'd suggest converting individual VMs instead.

When converting the disk from Hyper-V to VMware ESXi there is an Activate Repair mode checkbox. Please tick it.

Nobody reported the problems so far :)
It should be good. It is non-disruptive, so the worst it can do is that conversion would not fly.
