Hi,

I convert am VM from ESXI to Hyper-V with the Starwind Tool. All works like a Charm....the VM must be powered down in ESXi- > then the conversion works without any error.
Afterwards i start the VM in Hyper-V and also functions. I can Log-In and use the system with the keyboard, so the conversion succeeded, but I CAN't USE the Mouse !!!!

I can choose any setting I want, but the mouse isn't able to be used. :-(

I know that MS Server 2003 SP2 isn't supported, but is there any advice how can i use a mouse ?? All works so great, only the mouse not. If is possible, I would route trough a mouse or whatever solution is possible....I just need a mouse :-(

Any Advice here ????

Server 2003 in a ESXi -> Hyper-V on a Server 2019

THX a lot

Greetings,

VM conversion runs smoothly as VM is able to start, which indicates this issue not to be related to StarWind V2V Converter.

First, according to Microsoft (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/window ... dfrom=MSDN), WS 2003 is not supported on WS 2016 (and 2019 as well I guess)... but it does not mean that it does not work (you can see that with your own eyes). Sometimes, installing integration services works (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Fo ... rverhyperv).

Such an issue might be related to drivers. Try reinstalling/updating them (if possible). Here are other users who encountered a mouse problem like you: https://communities.vmware.com/thread/101386 and https://www.experts-exchange.com/questi ... yperV.html.

You can also try creating a new WS 2003 VM on WS 2019 and see if the issue persists.

Any feedback appreciated.

Hi,

THX for your fast reply -> it's much appreciated.

As I was searching for a solution since several days - I found now the solution:

As u already stated: MS Server 2003 isn't supported anymore in the Hyper-V HV from Server 2019 (and 2016). They only support newer Systems where the "Integration Services" are already implemented into their OS. So for MS Server 2003 it's an urge need to install this "Integrations Service" manually inside of the VM. To find these on the net was a hassle, but in the end I found a resource [ ...]
or the download-link on webarchive.org :)

There you find the "vmguest.iso" file. This u must add into your virtual DVD-Drive of your VM -> start the machine and then install it via the Keyboard ("TAB"" is your best friend  ).
So I logged in, tabbed me to the Start-Menue, opened the Explorer and opened/started the DVD -> then it installs it automatically. If u have Autostart disabled, u must go inside the Support folder and start the Setup manually. After while it's done - Restart and "Boom" !!! You have your mouse inside a Legacy OS.

Of course it will be soon replaced with an actual OS, but it's good to know, how to solve this hassle.

The StarWind Converter worked very good. I hope someone else helps this information, 'cause I needed more than 1 day for this sweet problem.

Cheers from Vienna
