Hyper V to ESXi 6.5 Converrsion

Hello folks,
I am new to virtualization as a whole so forgive me if I make rookie mistakes. I am trying to convert from a Hyper V workstation in my lab to a remote management workstation directly wired into another Lab running ESXi.
Now a direct connection between these two labs is impossible so I must copy offline from Lab A ->Managment Workstation -> Lab B. I keep getting "Not a virtual disk".
The format I chose is VMware server image and I picked the newest format it allows (6.0 I believe even though my ESX is 6.5) and yet after successfully launching the vmx it just tells me the VMDK is not a virtual disk.
