Hi,

I'm trying to convert a VMWare ESXi 6 vmdk guest file to HyperV vhdx.

The guest is Server 2012 R2 Datacentre and the VMWare host is running version 9.
The HyperV host is Server 2012 R2 Datacentre.

The vmdk converts apparently successfully but once I start up the hyperv server I get a black boot screen with 'Boot Failed EFI SCSI device' showing.

I can easily mount the vhdx image with no issues on the hyperv host OS , it has 2 partitions the usual C: drive and a 'System Reserved' partition which I can't see any files in.

Is there something I need to do with the guest before running the conversion perhaps?

Hello
As mentioned in V2V converter whitepaper: One hypervisor can’t use virtual machines created by another one, as different hypervisors use different VM formats. In addition, when working with different sets of hardware, moved VMs may experience compatibility issues.

As I can see, you can convert VM`s disks with data, not the OS.

So the software just converts a disk for you to explore data and its no use at all for converting vm's to run on a different host?

Hello

When you converting VMDK to VHDX file, you should click on check box "Activate Windows Repair Mode" to solve the hardware environment and compatibility problems.
I hope it will fix your problem.

I think there are some drivers issue, that repair mode can`t fix.
So try to convert another VM or try to fix it in the repair mode again or give us screenshot from the repair mode.
Thanks.
