I am trying to convert a vhdx to vmdk. Hyper-v 2012 to ESXi. The first screen where I pick the vhdx I get an error "Error opening file (2) [0]". Please help. Thanks.

I am trying to do the exact same thing and have this error. As far as I know it is not in use by a VM. I am trying to think if it was in use when I copied the file off the machine. I don't believe so. It is possible. I no longer have the machine just this file is there any way to work around it?

Try to rename the file first. If it is not in use, it will allow you to do that. Then convert.
