Hi, I converted a ~250GB vhdx file to VMware ESX server image, the process took around 2.5hrs, and generated a ~600GB vmdk file and a 1kb vmdk file. Is that normal? I still have another vhdx file ~600GB, wondering how large the resultant vmdk file will be?

Hello Bctechie!

I think, you were using thin provisioned disk, which was 250gb, when you converted it to vmdk file, it became thick provisioned dick 600gb size.
This is the reason why it grew.
Thus, you could make thick provisioned 250gb vhdx file, then convert it to vmdk, and it should be 250gb file size after conversion.
