I have created a small test lan on VMware workstation 9.
I used the StarWind Converter on a download of Microsoft Windows Server 2012R2 VHD, converting it to a VMDK file. When I attempt to open it with VMware Workstation 9, I get the following error - *** cannot be opened directly. Open the virtual machine configuration file (vmx) instead.

So, really a couple of questions here:

1. Can I readily create a vmx file from this?
2. Should I be using a different method or setup?

Hi!

Can I ask you to share the VHD that you tried to convert so we could reproduce your issue?
Also, can I ask you to provide us with exact steps that you are taking before getting the error message that you mentioned?

Thank you
