conversion not working

I trying to convert vhd to vmdk file I using starwind latest version v2v to convert from vfh vdmk esx server file it crewaates two file one size 1kb the other a flot file then I uploaded to vmware and it see in the drive as one llarge file (bot flat) looks normal
Then when I create a vmguess and try pick an existing drive I do not see this file at all and it should . (it does matter what type of drive I choice
Its is vmware 3.5
please help
