Hi

I have taken Windows Image backup ( Windows 7 prebuild image backup), it gives in vhd format. I converted this vhd file to vmdx file using V2V Image Converter. Conversion gives two files, one vmdk file and another flat-vmdk file.Copied these files into ESX server datastore.Created New virtual machine, selected "use existing virtual harddisk" and points to the converted vmdk file.

But while booting vm shows operating system not found, also created with other virtual hdd options Buslogic parallel, LSI logic parallel,
and LSI logic SAS, in all combinations it shows operating system not found.

Any thoughts willbe appreciated, if any input needed, will provide.

Regards
Gopal

Where can I get that source VHD image to try it myself?

Most likely, that it happens because VHD image supports bootable image only for IDE drives, so that image is made bootable only on IDE drives. VMWare ESX supports only SCSI drives. The image was converted to VMDK format, but boot sector stays the same - bootable only for IDE drive.

You may be able to access this image from ESX, if it will be non-bootable, i.e. mounted as secondary drive.
