Hi Everyone,
I am in need of migrating a physical machine to Proxmox. I came across Starwind P2V converter. Below are the steps that I performed in my earlier attempt:
1. Selected P2V
2. Selected "Entire Machine" as the physical data to convert
3. I selected all volumes to be converted including C: drive
4. Selected "Proxmox Server" as the location of the destination image
5. Provided IP/hostname and credentials for the Proxmox Server connection properties.
6. Getting error "the host name or credentials are wrong".
7. Logs shows nothing much:
11/19 16:09:16.921 23a4 Facility ???INFO: ICPPage::OnWizardNext: SetActivePage - (null)
11/19 16:10:31.439 23a4 Facility ???INFO: Proxmox::WrapperProxmox::WrapperProxmoxImpl::Connect: Connect to Proxmox host
Proxmox is accessible from the same machine that I am trying to migrate (The same machine where im running Starwind).
Proxmox Authentication is set to Linux PAM standard authentication.
Target machine and Proxmox server resides on 2 different subnets.
Is there any specific port being used by Starwind P2V to initiate connection to Proxmox that needs to be opened? Appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.
Thanks
Amiel

I've got the same problem with 1 VM and 2 Lenovo Windows Clients, all on Windows 10 on current updates
and all of them as full conversions, with 2 different HPE ProLiants running proxmox, 1 current version 8.3.0 and 8.2.2-ish as targets.
It feels like when i either click or press the button to start the conversion,
the click or press goes through the conversion button, so i basically press go and stop at the same time.
The messages Started and Cancelled with the same timestamp seems to confirm that too.
Just not having them sit on top of each other in the GUI would probably make do as a workaround.

I am experiencing the same symptoms, trying to convert from VMware to Proxmox, instant cancel. I tried to send the entire log file, but the anti-spam filter catches it ("Forbidden. Contains contacts. Message seems to be spam. Anti-Spam by CleanTalk."). How can I send my log file?

My bad, I didn't notice the attachment option down there.
Thanks for your patience.
My colleagues suggested turning off the firewall on the host that is being used for P2V conversion.

Hi,
The converter worked when I turned off the firewall and Windows Defender. Windows server 2016.
