Should I validate the source VM before starting a large V2V conversion?

Hi everyone,
I’m planning a V2V migration of several VMs and want to avoid discovering disk or boot issues only after the conversion has completed.

The current VM is about 480 GB, uses UEFI, has 3 virtual disks, and runs on ESXi 8.0. The target will be Hyper-V Gen 2.

Before starting the conversion, what checks do you recommend for:

disk integrity and unused space;
EFI/boot configuration;
partition alignment;
installed VMware Tools or drivers;
network adapter changes after migration?

For a VM of this size, would you perform any additional validation or create a test conversion first? I’m particularly interested in a practical pre-migration checklist that can reduce the risk of a successful conversion followed by a non-booting VM.

We don't have any recommendations on pre-conversion checks.
