Hello,
I successfully completed this process with another file, but when I try to convert the second file, I receive an error stating that Starwind cannot open the file. This file is a virtual hard drive containing Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3. I haven't been able to find any information online about this error or how to resolve it.

The file I'm attempting to convert is a copy of a virtual hard drive that is currently functioning in VMware.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to StarWind Forum. Does this VM have snapshots?
Also, try offline conversion.
As a workaround, you can try converting the VM from inside using disk2vhd software.
