Live V2V ESXi to Hyper-V

Hi,

I've been trying to use the Live V2V function to migrate from single-host ESXi to Hyper-V 2025. The operation seemingly completes successfully, but doesn't behave in the way that I'd expect.

My expectation is that this function would complete an initial seeding (In my example, I'm migrating a 2TB VM over a 1Gbps NIC), allow me to complete delta syncs on demand, and then choose when I'd like to power down the source VM and complete the final sync.

The observed behaviour is that the tool takes a snapshot of the source, syncs that, then immediately moves to completing a delta without any user input. The process completes without any further input, and attempting to repeat the process results in duplicate images.

Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks for your post. Sadly, that's the way V2V works for now. We plan the solution to allow live conversions so that the destination VM boots and the source is shut down.
