Greetings all.

I am trying to create an archive of a Windows 7 machine onto an old copy of VMWare (v6).
The convert succeeds but the boot of the machine fails.

The source machine 32 GB RAM, i7-9700K CPU and runs great. The Storage (C Drive) is a pair of 1 TB SSD sticks in RAID configuration (Intel Rapid Storage).

I've tried several different versions of the V2V converter. All of which produced the same result.
The VM created has UEFI for the boot, but will not even attempt a boot with that.
If I change to plain EFI, then it begins to boot, but fails (by restarting, not even a BSOD). I did manage to get it into safe mode and the last thing I see before it reboots is Sound.dll loaded. I have no idea what's next in the load sequence.

The first, r 9.0.1.757 created an mvmdk drive (I have no idea what that is) as did the second version r 9.0.1.623.
For the third attempt, I went back to r 9.0.1.268 and that did create a vmdk.

At no time was I given an option of what storage backing to use. Nor was I given a repair at boot type option (I may not have the name quite right).

I then tried a single disk P2V into the created machine and that did give me the repair at boot option which I tried. I swapped the "old" vmdk to the "new" vmdk from this single copy and tried the boot.

Same problem, no joy.

I can mount the drive to another machine and it mounts just fine and there appears to be no issues.

Can anyone provide some ideas I might try?
Thanks to all who read this far and especially to anyone offering suggestions as I am totally stuck.

Hi, I gues there could be something funny with the drivers. Try creating a fresh install and use a tool like Macrium Reflect to mirror the volume.
