Seeing same errors on ESXi 8 host attempting to migrate VM to Hyper-V. I am selecting the Synchronize option -

"synchronization failed. Invalid Parameter. Error Deleting Snapshot... the session is not authenticated."

I do not see a config.xml in /etc/vmware/rhttpproxy on ESXi 8 however.

Any idea where to set this on ESXi 8 host?

Thanks!

Please see below. I've removed any hostnames/IP addresses of vCenter, ESXi or Hyper-V hosts.

I have tried specifying vCenter and ESXi host as the VM source, but same result.

Try offline conversion, please Snapshot removal is taking longer than expected.

Ok, but the main reason we are interested in this product is that it can do an online conversion. Otherwise, we will use SCVMM to migrate the VM.

I do not see any attempts/tasks in vCenter or ESXi Host for removing the snapshot. When I manually remove the snapshot in vCenter, it takes 1-2 seconds.

Could you please let me know the V2V converter build you use?
Please also try the latest build.

Hi,

It's V9.0 build 626.

I am also hoping you can provide info on how the Synchronization works, or is that documented somewhere?

V2V Converter will do a final sync automatically at the end to make sure the Target / Cloned VM is fully updated with all changes on the Source VM?

Hi,

Thanks. I have forwarded your input to the R&D team.
There's nothing extraordinary about the live conversion. StarWind V2V can convert the VMs live. it makes only one snapshot and merges it at the end. To be more specific, it creates 2 snapshots, one before conversion and another before syncing the delta with the new VM.

Has there been any development on this? We're running into the same situation with online conversions from vmware (ESXi 8 hosts) to Hyper-V, where it gets all the way to the last step of attempting to remove the snapshot when it displays an authentication error. Offline conversions work fine, however like others, the appeal of this utility for us was its ability to handle online conversions.

AFAIK, the issue could not be reproduced.
Try converting the disks alone.

I am getting the same error when I try to do an online conversion. I have set the VMware timeouts as documented in the previous entries.

I am running VMware 6.7. If tech support wishes to help troubleshoot send me an email. I can duplicate the problem easily.

Try convering to the fixed disk ro take the VM offline.
Could you please share the entire conversion log and tell me more about the conversion scenario?
Is the source disk thin/dynamic? Is the destination fixed/dynamic.
Also, from what I've learned recently, the fix for snapshot merge should arrive in the next build.

Ran the converter again, this time with the VM turned off. it still failed. No snapshots were taken.

VMware disk is Thick/Lazy Zeroed

The Hyper-V server it is migrating to is not on a domain. It copies over the VHD file but does not create the VM. Attempting to create a VM manually and mounting the VHD results in the VHD starting boot but then gets error INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
