P2V into Windows 11 Hyper-V Manager

I've used VMware for years, but StarWind and Hyper-V are new to me.
I am looking for some guidance on pulling a vhdx file into Hyper-V Manager. Is there a tech note available?

I believe I have successfully created a vhdx file using the P2V Migrator. I am having difficulty with launching it within Hyper-V Manager. I'm not sure if I should be using the "Import Virtual Machine" feature or "Create a New" VM and reference the vhdx file as a virtual hard disk.

I can't seem to get either approach to work. If there isn't a guide available, I can provide more specifics.

Welcome to StarWind Forum.
Both are correct. It all depends on what you are after. You converted a physical disk/volume into a VHDX that can be used either to create a new VM or connected to an existing one.

Thank you. I tried creating a new VM and chose "Use an existing virtual hard disk" where I pointed to the vhdx file. When launching the VM, I get a Boot Summary message that the OS was not loaded (see attached).

I have disabled secure boot. I don't know what other settings can affect the boot process.

Please let me know what I am doing incorrectly.

Try connecting the disk to the IDE controller and boot. Also, hook up that disk to an existing VM to see if data is doing well.

I do not know what IDE Controller means in the context of VMs. Is that a setting that I can change in Hyper-V Manager? I can see that the hard drive is attached to the SCSI Controller.

I would prefer to create the entire physical machine from V2V migrator, but I can't get past the HostName using "localhost" because of the Invalid Namespace dialog. I think that would be a better approach than connecting the hard disk. I need the OS from my physical machine intact.

What should I try next?

There are two types of controllers: IDE and SCSI. See more at https://www.ubackup.com/enterprise-back ... -scsi.html. Try Gen 1 VM and IDE controller.
