2 Node HA - NIC/Performance Guidence

Hi, I've got a 2 Node Storage only setup, using HDD RAID10 on each Node. Disk performance locally is great, getting around 470MB/s Read/Write (sequenctial). I have have 2 x 1GB NICs connected on each host, using a cross-over cable. I have 4 x 1GB NICs for iSCSI traffic on each node. I have 2 Hyper-V...

Thanks Oleg, that's the paragragh I was after :)

Just noticed, that paragraph in the other link you sent, I must have browsed past it. Thanks again.

Re: Further information on How traffic is split between replica nodes

No, MPIO part is fine. What I'm interested in is, how the Starwind Service decides which of the 2 nodes receive the IO requests. e.g. 4 VM's with VHDX hosted on the Storage Only VSAN. Does the Disk IO for the VMs hit radom VSAN Nodes, depending on which is busy, and do they keep splitting between no...

Re: Further information on How traffic is split between replica nodes

thanks, but that wasn't the one I read. I'm sure I read something on the lines of, IO is split between nodes depending on load/IO already hitting a node.

Further information on How traffic is split between replica nodes

Hi, Is there further information on how traffic is split between the a 2 node Storage only setup (no Compute). I have a 2 node setup, using Synchronous “Two-Way” Replication, and wondered how my iSCSI VM traffic on ESXi/Hyper-V Compute servers is distributed across the 2 nodes. I did read about this...

Re: Migrating current to new

Just an update, this is going well.

Rebuilt 1st Node on RAID10, migrated VM's to new devices (as I wanted to move from 3 devices to 2).
Rebuild 2nd Note on RAID10, currently replicating.

Re: Migrating current to new

Yes, % is wrong. I'm going with the recommended 1Gb per 1TB.

Migrating current to new

Hi, I have been trialling Starwind VSAN Free for nearly 1 month now, and have learnt a lot through trial and error, articles, and good advise from support. I know have an NFR License, as this is my Dev environment. I know how I want this to work for me, so I just wanted run this migration by you, in...

Re: 2 Node Storage only on RAID0 Bad or Good idea?

Thanks for your response. The disks are WD Red 6TB. Agreed, RAID0 would be the best for performance, but in the very unlikely event of 1 disk failing on both nodes, I would have a nightmare restoring from backup. I'm now thinking RAID10 for better performance. Not too worried about 50% loss of stora...

2 Node Storage only on RAID0 Bad or Good idea?

Hi,

I'm after the best performance, so I was thinking about creating a 2 Node Storage Only system, using 4 Disks on RAID0. I'm aware of the disk failure risks, but thought as it's replicated, it should not be a massive concern.

Am I missing something?
Good idea or bad?

Thanks

Performance issues with a New 2 node Install

Hi, I decided to try out Starwind VSAN Free, as a dedicated Storage Server (no VM Workload), purely for storage via iSCSI. Here are the details, it's a bit long, but I wanted to give as much details as I could. Build details 2 x identical Servers with the following specs: Quad Core XEON 1225 v3 32 G...
