Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

my next thought is to update the nic driver from the default windows, to the intel driver, however it is strange I would see the same behavior on physical windows, and a virtual windows 2012 r2 server, using vmxnet3.

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

nevermind, disabled all nics, but the 2 10gig nics my iscsi/jumbo connections are on for sync, and the 1gig management network, that has a static ip. every time I go into the MS iscsi initiator, and click refresh, I lose internet connectivity, but the nic stays up, and my remote desktop session stay...

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

I recreated the situation, leaving one nic dhcp, and the other static. the main nic was static, and the second nic was a backup...the moment I click refresh on the discovered targets under iscsi initiator, a ping-t 8.8.8.8 stops responding, until I ipconfig /release then it starts responding again. ...

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

yes there was a second nic plugged in as a backup, in case the primary goes out...and it did have a dhcp address, in my lab. this may be where the issue is.
We'll table this, and I'll post back if I ever have it pop up again.

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

not arp, not teamviewer,
even though I'm using static ipv4, a ipconfig /release fixed the issue, networking came back for outside addresses....strange.

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

This did appear on our physical box as well. I had a vmware engineer remotely logged in over teamviewer, and when I created a starwind iscsi target, and connected it with the ms iscsi initiator, the nic went dead. the vmware engineer suggested I look at the arp table, and shure enough, the default g...

minor gui annoyance, refresh and lose place or selection

I've noticed when I'm in the starwind management console, doing normal activities, it seems like there is a gui refresh going on, that will take the focus up a level, or to a default, and I lose focus on what I'm currently doing. I was exploring the menu, had tools, deploy nas selected but not click...

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

this is virtual environment, so could indeed be a vmxnet3 issue.
I'll see if I can replicate on my physical server with starwind, and determine if it is virtual only...

windows network connections reset after change in initiator

not an issue with starwind, but an annoyance none the less...I've noticed that in my lab, any change in microsoft's iscsi initiator( either adding, reconnecting, disconnecting targets, etc...to starwind iscsi targets) resets the network interface, so that any connections over other services are inte...

Re: HA Write Performance

did you nttcp test your network connections between nodes? jumbo set up correctly all the way through? you mention lab, so are your sans running virtual? you mentioned vmware, so if the sans are virtual, you have to use the paravirtual scsi driver on windows install to get any kind of real disk perf...

Re: Replication never goes over 1Gbit

If I have several targets/devices set up for 2-way replication, is there an easy way to take one target/device, and force a resync, to see how fast it runs...without simply rebooting, forcing all targets/devices to resync at the same time, and throwing the numbers off.

well, poking around in the gui, I found the options, debug options, enable replication manager for RAM device...didn't see that before, lol

Re: Replication never goes over 1Gbit

Alex, and Bohdan are helping troubleshoot the issues over the next couple of days. I was able to determine a 5TB thick sync'd in 2 hours, and ran at 5.9GB/s on the 10GB sync & heartbeat nic. might be an issue with thin/lsfs the screenshot was just of the ha option greyed out for ramdisk. Alex sa...

Re: V8 Max Nodes

LU is Logical Unit. Target can have multiple LUs (at least one). In a hyper-converged scenario VMs have better performance when run locally so if you run out of IOPS you need to throw in more nodes to offload VMs there but NOT to increase number of replicas (that's slows down the things actually). ...
