Re: Troubleshooting "not synchronized" status

Great update! That "iSCSI blocking on non-synchronized replica" note from Boris is absolutely gold. It totally explains the 'Service Unavailable' error and is a massive takeaway for anyone troubleshooting HA setups here. I'm definitely saving this thread! Seeing the back-and-forth on shari...

Re: Tape Redirection on VMWare

Hey - that’s a good question. If you’re doing “tape redirection” via StarWind Tape Redirector on a VM inside VMware, you want to make sure the redirector is installed on the physical host (where the tape drive is attached), and the iSCSI initiator is running inside the VM. That usually avoids common...

Re: SpiceWorks Link Not Working

I searched on every forum on internet and eventually end up fixing this by setting up S2D with two totally separate pools on a single 4-node cluster sounds pretty tricky to manage—Microsoft usually prefers a single pool across all nodes for that architecture. Are you running into trouble with resili...

Re: Tape Redirector Upgrade

Hey, I can't see the full thread, but if you're hitting a wall on the VSAN setup or performance tuning, make sure you've ruled out the networking layer first. Nine times out of ten, it’s a subtle MTU size mismatch or a NIC offload setting causing headaches!

Re: Upcoming beta?

That's a great breakdown! The networking side of StarWind iSCSI is where most people get stuck. For anyone else running into connection trouble, always check two things- 1) Make sure you're using the correct iSCSI port (3260) and not the management port (3261). 2) Using dedicated, separate networks ...

Re: Managing Tape Redirector with PowerShell

Looks like the issue usually comes down to leftover config or a service not fully shutting down. Doing a clean uninstall, reboot, and then reinstalling StarWind as admin fixed it for me. Also make sure no old StarWind services are still running in the background. Might be worth trying if you haven’t...

Re: Error when connecting the server locally

Hey — good post. Really useful. One thing to watch out for: make sure you’re not using the deprecated StarWind Hardware VSS Provider for devices that don’t support snapshots — it’s not really supported for non-snapshot storage. Also, check StarWind’s logs (look in C:\Program Files\StarWind Software\...
