Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Thank you for your response. I am comfortable migrating my VM's from the LSFS device and will complete that on my own.

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Hi,
The VSAN service crashed again last night. I have uploaded the minidump file as "starwind.20200615.230754979.zip" (and a .md5 hash), and I have added my log collector files as "ARYTH 20200616-130149.zip"
Please let me know if there is more information I can provide.

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

I did.
I uploaded to your ftp server as requested two minidump files (and their MD5 hashes) and a log collector zip file on the 4th June.

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Hi,

The incident I am referring to is from June 3rd - the one that I have already provided the minidump and log files for. I have spent the last week or so recovering my environment from backups.

Regards,
Daniel

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Hi, Just following up with this and wondering if there is anything else I can try? This last crash was a bit devastating as it ended up corrupting the filesystem within the LSFS device. I was able to restore my VM's from backups, but the experience left me a bit unsure of whether to restore back to ...

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Thank you for your reply. I really do appreciate the assistance. Since I have opened this ticket I have had VSAN crash two more times. One of them happened last night. I am happy to keep providing information to help your R&D if needed. I have both minidump files from the events. One happened on...

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Hi, You can use any convenient tool that is recommended by community. I am not following. I asked what level of performance I need to meet. Events indicate that there are not enough CPUs assigned. What you have said here is that I need more CPU - what I am trying to find out is how much more CPU? Wh...

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Hi, Thankyou for the information. I have additional questions. Events indicate that there are not enough CPUs assigned. Try using 8 CPUs (4 vCPUs in 2 sockets). Also, consider using at least 8GB of RAM This is a physical machine, so I cannot provision additional vCPUs. This physical machine is only ...

Re: VSAN Free Crashed

Hi, Apologies for not getting back to you - I kinda expected a notification through my emails and forgot to check the forum (sorry!) Below is a link to my logs from the StarWind Log Collector: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KRZe91MCaCig2LScjWkdQBEycmbCRFe1/view?usp=sharing I haven't uploaded the d...

VSAN Free Crashed

Hi, I have been evaluating the Virtual SAN Free and last night it unexpectedly crashed and recorded this in the log: 5/4 3:36:32.777196 634 error: Sp: *** CStarPackCoreNew::CStarPackCore::FlushingThread (8807) (0x000002668C020000) pNextContext is NULL 5/4 3:36:32.777326 634 error: Sp: *** CStarPackC...

Re: LSFS over-provisioning

Hi Boris, I installed the trial in September - my 30 days has expired so there is no included support. I wanted to continue running beyond the 30 days to properly evaluate the device, and so used the vSAN free licence. My understanding is that there is no support beyond this forum? Is there a way fo...

Re: LSFS over-provisioning

Hi Boris, I have gone through the process of migrating my LSFS device to a much larger storage array (15 TB). After remounting the LSFS device I am still seeing very large amount of fragmentation (820%) - I haven't received an answer yet whether this is the expected behaviour? I am excited by the pe...

Re: LSFS over-provisioning

Hi Boris, My underlying storage is 7.48 TB in capacity, and the LSFS device is one-third of that at 2.49 TB, so I have left 200% additional capacity on the underlying storage. The concern is that at the moment the LSFS device only contains 1.01 TB of data, yet is consuming 7.39 TB of storage; by tho...

Re: LSFS over-provisioning

Hi, No. I checked using the # # get snapshots list # if ( $device.lsSnapshotsSupported ) { foreach($snapshot in $device.Snapshots) { Write-Host "Snapshot Id : $($snapshot.Id) Name : $($snapshot.name) Date : $($snapshot.$Date)" } } portion of the "removesnapshot.ps1" script and no...

Re: LSFS over-provisioning

Hi,

Any thoughts on what to do? At the moment the device is in read-only and I cannot use it as is. I would like to continue my evaluation, but this is a bit of a show-stopper.

Thanks
