Re: Trouble Migrating from ESXi to Hyper-v with multiple disk

This is the VM configuration file. I doubt you can easily edit one for Hyper-V. You still can check the VMX file for an individual VM while the VM runs in ESXi.

Re: P2V to ESXi - How to specify thin provision

Welcome to StarWind Forum.
You can convert it into ESXi growable device in UI (the help document section needs to be updated).

Re: Question: Starwind Vsan Free

Greetings,

Please fill in the download form here https://www.starwindsoftware.com/#download. Web UI for the free license allows creating a storage pool, and a volume. LUN though should be still created with PowerShell.

Re: Trouble Migrating from ESXi to Hyper-v with multiple disk

Thanks for sharing your workaround. It looks like something went sideways with the VM config file. I am glad to read that you managed to sort it out.

Re: VSAN Free - Hyper-V - physical storage access

You are always welcome. It all depends on the performance expectations and the underlying storage you have. For NVMe-based systems, the performance will hit the glass ceiling of iSCSI anyway (can be compared to RAID 5 out of SSDs' performance). 1 GBE will absolutely kill the performance of this setu...

Re: Trouble Migrating from ESXi to Hyper-v with multiple disk

Try converting the disks alone and recreate the VM. It looks like something is going sideways with the config file. See also this thread https://forums.starwindsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6763&p=36723&hilit=google#p36723 and https://drive.google.com/file/d/1hDP4gla0VXyAnKFzkqePvP_Z...

Hi,

Thanks for your update.
May I wonder if you updated the CVM to the latest build already?

The issue seems to be related to the integration of the VM with Hyper-V.
Could you please let me know what OS you are running?

Re: Hyper-V 2 node Hyperconverged: Clustered VM's and replications

I think these are more Microsoft-related questions than StarWind. You do not need to replicate the VMs between the nodes as they share the same storage, and are in the same cluster. If the setup is licensed under the trial key, you are welcome to book a solution overview and walkthrough with one of ...

Re: VSAN Free - Hyper-V - physical storage access

If it is a temporary environment, get the Trial license. Reach out to support@starwind.com. Use this thread and 1173351 as your references. will it work with a classic NVMe SSD drive on a standard PC ? Yes. 1. Go to device manager and disable each NVMe drive. 2. Open each device properties and NOTE ...

Thanks for your update.
Does it come up even when you convert a disk into a local file that is located on the same host as the V2V converter is running?

Re: Hyper-V 2 node Hyperconverged: Clustered VM's and replications

For a Hyper-V cluster, to make storage work as expected, you need to create a Failover Cluster and present the StarWind disks as Cluster Shared volumes. Unlike file-level protocols used in NAS, iSCSI is a block-level protocol and it cannot arbiter read-write access to an iSCSI device connected to mu...
