Re: StarWind VSAN Free - how to put into maintenance mode?

The link about maintenance mode does not apply to the free version. Is there a PowerShell or other command to put it into maintenance mode?
This last time I drained the roles and then shut down the StarWind service(s) before reboot and didn't have a full sync after the node came back online.

StarWind VSAN Free - how to put into maintenance mode?

Need to reboot one of the nodes in a 2-node Hyper-V cluster. Have drained all the roles to one of the nodes. Can't find a CLI command to put 'Witness' and 'CSV1' into maintenance mode.
Last time I just rebooted, I ended up with a full sync that took 22 hours. Don't want to have that happen again!

Full sync after reboot? Can't move VMs during sync?

StarWind VSAN Free on Hyper-V (2 nodes) - currently no VMs running. Took both of the machines down to move them into the rack. When I powered them on, StarWind Management Console says one of my nodes is syncing. Looks like a full sync as it's 4.5 hours for 10TB. iscsicpl shows 'Reconnecting' to node...

Re: Very slow initial sync when creating HA - 1.4mbit?

Just for kicks, I installed the TRIAL license. Created everything with the GUI....and boom! Everything worked as expected. Super fast, seeing 5.5Gbit speeds on the storage network.

So.....I MUST be missing something when using the CreateHA_2 command. :)

Very slow initial sync when creating HA - 1.4mbit?

I had everything working in the trial version, now I am redoing everything with free. I have two hosts, each with 4x NICs. Management (1gbit), heartbeat (1gbit), storage sync (10gbit), and final one for Hyper-V VMs(10gbit). Small boot partition, another 12TB for storage on the D: drive. Management: ...

Re: Failure testing - what am I missing?

Thanks for that. I was setting it up on my side, watching the video, etc. Must have missed that part! Looked up and saw the VM running and thought I was doing something wrong. Assuming there is nothing in the Hyper-V world, regardless of number of hosts, that would keep VMs up if a node went down ha...

Failure testing - what am I missing?

I set up a 2 node Hyper-V cluster in a lab with nested hypervisors. Live migration works great, now I wanted to do some failure testing by simulating a node failure. Hard powered off the host where the VM was running. The VM shows as 'Unmonitored' and the VM is non-responsive. After about 3-5 minute...
