Re: StarWind Crash

I tried updating to VSAN 8.0.0 Build 11456 and the StarWindService still crashes when the Linux VM tries to mount the partition.

StarWind Crash

I'm trying to connect to a target on a 2 node VSAN 8.0.0 build 9996 cluster from a Linux VM. After mounting the partition on the iSCSI target from the Linux VM, the StarWindService immediately crashes. If you can give me a place to upload a 500+ MB file I can provide the minidump. Any idea why this ...

Re: Starwind Cluster Service wont start

Sergey thanks for being willing to look in to this but I think i'm going to give VSAN a break. It just doesn't seem entirely stable at the moment in my environment, i've setup two nodes with it and have been evaluating it over the past few days. Even with 4x 480GB SSDs in a RAID 0 on each node and 1...

Starwind Cluster Service wont start

I am trying to follow your guide to enable the creation of VVols with Starwind VSAN. Unfortunately I am unable to do pretty much anything which requires using WMIC to access the STARWIND_ClusterService class. running wmic /namespace:"\\root\starwind" path STARWIND_ClusterService call Creat...

Re: 2 node HA split brain

Do you know where I could find more information about configuring a dynamic witness in VSAN? I cant seem to find much documentation from google beyond forum posts and Geo Clustering PDF which mentions it in passing.

2 node HA split brain

From what i've read on the forums (https://forums.starwindsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3440), split brain can be an issue when using a 2 node HA configuration, when total network failure occurs between the two nodes. I was wondering if anything has been done to solve this issue in the past t...

Re: StarWind VSAN crashes with USB device attached

I just submitted a case. Just a FYI but after playing with this a bit more I was mistaken and this is not an issue with Seagate disks in this dock specifically, but it effects any disk over 2TB. I tried it with a 3TB Hitachi DeskStar 5K3000 (model # hds5c3030ala630) and it happened as well.

Re: StarWind VSAN crashes with USB device attached

I've playing around with it some more and discovered that there appears to be a compatibility issue with Seagate disks specifically. I also tried it with a 3TB Seagate Constellation CS (ST3000NC002) which causes the same problem. I have multiple TeraScale disks and they all cause this behavior. And ...

StarWind VSAN crashes with USB device attached

I'm trying to run StarWind VSAN 8, when the StarWindService.exe service tries to start, it gets stuck in a Starting state, and is unable to be stopped or manually killed with Task Manager, Process Hacker or pskill64.exe. Windows is unable kill the process when it tries to shutdown/reboot as well. It...
