We are not permitted to take cameras into the building The VM settings show that Boot option is set to Firmware (BIOS) The VMDK that was converted from VHD and is set as Hard Disk 1. It is hitting the disk as i see the Windows 2008 startup process. I booted and hit F8 to try a Safe Mode reboot with ...

Re: Converted VM is a in boot loop - BSoD

Can you specify what setting in the vmx file? It will latke some time to get the file of the system as it is not reasonably accessible. Also, i was told the below,,, You CANNOT just convert the image from VHD to VMDK and expect it to BOOT! Starwind V2V does no more, than just change the format, it d...

Re: Converted VM is a in boot loop - BSoD

Him

We only have the Hyper-V VMDX file.

I have to check for the logs.

VM properties as in VMX file settings?

I recall that the boot type is BIOS, but I will check

Re: Converted VM is a in boot loop - BSoD

H, I did select "Repair Mode" when i selected the file. The VHD is converted to VMDK file and stored on a drive of a Windows 2016 VM i have StarWind converter installed on. I then copy the VMDK over to a VM folder. I then edit settings of the VM, select "Add Existing Disk". I nav...

Re: Converted VM is a in boot loop - BSoD

I am trying a new conversion of the file targeting the ESXi host with repair option.

can you clarify - "Please consider running disk conversion alone in the Repair Mode."

thanks

Converted VM is a in boot loop - BSoD

I coveted a Windows 2008 R2 VHDX file to a VMDK to run on vSphere 6.7 When i added the converted VMDK to the VM and boot the VM, i see what looks like a BSoD flash by and then the VM tried to boot again and then repeats the same sequence. Is there a step i missed or some setting that needs to be cha...

Re: V2V - ESXi Version not supported?

I am looking for an option to convert an ESXi 6.7 Server to a VM to be used on ESXi 6.7 in a nested setup for testing.

P2V?

I have read that the new V2V can convert physical machines.

If this is true, can it convert a Windows 2000 server ?

We need to covert these over to VMware VMs and have tried VMware converter, but the latest version as well as a 5.0 converter failed with an error.

thanks

Re: Will StarWind Work with ESXi

I will set up a 7.8 TB volume comprised of the 4 vmdk drives attached to the VM by using the MS 2012 Storage Spaces. The question is, should the vmdk drives that are created by adding the VM be thin provisioned or thick? Then, the Storage Spaces allows for thin or fixed...? so, there can end up bein...

Re: Will StarWind Work with ESXi

ok so On ESXi-01 and ESXi-02, I have a VM with four 1.8 TB Disk . I brought up the StarWInd Console and went into advanced and for each disk, i created an LSFS on each drive. I assume that since this is thin provision, that is the reason I see 1.79 GB of disk space on available on the each disk?. If...

Re: Will StarWind Work with ESXi

In addition to the last post I made, can we use Windows 2012 "Spanned Volume" to take the 4 drives and make them 1 dynamic volume then use starwind to provision the disk

Re: Will StarWind Work with ESXi

ok also We are looking at trying the following On ESXi Server 1, creating a Windows 2012 Server Stawind VM (starwind1). Create four 1.5 TB disks (vmdk) that will reside on the four standalone datastores. Then, using MS 2012 Storage Virtualization, pool the drives into a RAID5 configuration. On ESXi ...

Re: Will StarWind Work with ESXi

Thanks Where do you set the LSFS option? For the shared storage, Should we look at using the RAID6 SSD datastore or the Standalone datastores that are the 7.2k SATA Also, We only may have two 1gb nics available across both ESXi Servers. Will this work? And looking at the install guide, there are ste...

Re: Will StarWind Work with ESXi

There would at least vCenter Server with Update Manager and View Composer

also,

Horizon View Connection Server
Domain Controller (A/D)
and a few Win7 VMs

When you say '..individual drives, we're fine with that.."
Doe that mean we do not need to use the LSFS
