Re: Disk Bridging Bug Report

Just an update. I used the latest build and can once again create a disk bridge. But it only worked when I cleaned the disk (removed all partitions) and left the disk online. In prior builds it needed to be offline. I'm not sure if this is a quirk of Windows Server 2012 R2 or not. I'll see if I can ...

LSFS mount time

Just a quick FYI ... after a reboot the LSFS disk I had was taking too long to mount. I mean about 5+ minutes and only 1%. So, I gave up and deleted the LUN and moved on. I've seen other reports of long mount times, but this was a first for me. How long should a LSFS disk really take to mount? Is it...

Re: Disk Bridging Bug Report

Anton, Just a follow up. I'm still having an issue with disk bridging. Almost the same issue as previously. I was able to create the disk bridge without taking the disk offline. But then ESXi 5.5 could not format it with the previous GPT partition. So, after taking it offline, cleaning it, then reat...

Re: Disk Bridging Bug Report

I haven't had a chance to try it again as I have been studying for my VCAP-DCA exam on Saturday, but I will try a few things on Sunday to see what happens.

Re: Too cache or not ...

I do agree that a real world test would be better. And I could run the test repeatedly or try a different type of test where the data would be known to be in the cache, but I was curious how much impact a RAM cache would have vs. no cache with an SSD. No RAM cache - well none of mine anyway - will e...

Re: V8 RC1 Thick Vs. Thin

Actually, I have 4 VMs running on the datastore. I only printed the summary just to limit the amount of text to wade through, but if you want to see it all I can post it. There is no need for me to run more than 4 as 4 can max out the sequential bandwidth as it is. Even a single VM with a single NIC...

Re: Too cache or not ...

These numbers point out an interesting - well to me anyway - fact that even a single NIC is enough bandwidth to pretty much max out a 6GB SATA SSD random IO potential. V8 RC1 Thick Vs. Thin

OK, I ran my usual thick vs. thin test. On an Arcea 1261 with 2 GB Cache, 10 Seagate 7200 RPM 2.5" drives in a RAID 5 array (partitioned as a 2 GB for iSCSI and the remainder for file system shares), iCore 5 S2400 with 32 GB RAM and Windows Server 2012 R2. No other disk activity was present dur...

The file is too large. Compress it is a bit over two MB. Can I e-mail it or post it elsewhere for you?

Re: Disk Bridging Bug Report

Just a quick update on the new RC build on disk bridging. I upgraded my current build after deleting the LUNs. I rebuilt my think, thin, and SSD (disk bridge) to test the behavior against the previous build. The disk bridging killed Starwind. Hung up the RPC Server so I couldn't do much of anything ...
