I'm interested in what happened with this large storage issue...any updates?

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

If I use the iscsicli command line tool, I am able to issue a “iscsicli RefreshTargetPortal 127.0.0.1 3260” that successfully refreshes the targets list without loss of outside networking. you can then use the gui to see the targets, and connect, or continue to use the command line. I determined thr...

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

I am able to re-create this issue on every starwind server, 100% of the time. I need to collaborate with someone at starwind, and see if I can replicate it with you guys on a remote session on your equipment. show you what I'm seeing on a remote session on my equipment(4 servers so far, repeatable e...

Re: Hyper-V cluster - one big CSV or one per host?

planning for HA in the event of a node failure, it makes more sense to split a node's storage in 2 seperate targets, use 1 target for vm's that will run local, and the other target to replicate another node's vm's. then if one node fails, the remaining nodes that received the replication target, can...

Re: Migration away from ZFS, are non-raid HBA's supported?

don't confuse 3 way replication for a 3 node limit in a cluster. If you have 10 nodes, iscsi target A can be replicated across nodes 1-3, then iscsi target B can be replicated across nodes 2,3,and 9, no limit to which nodes you can replicate to, just that each iscsi target can only be in synchronous...

Re: Any benefit to using ReFS?

I had extensive discussions with anton on ReFS when I first started using Starwind Virtual San, the data integrity is very important to me, and I'm keeping an eye on this.
in my testing, all ReFS was much, much, much slower performance wise. This told me ReFS is not ready for primetime.

Re: Can you use multiple SSD for L2 cache?

Anatoly, I didn't read into any of the posts that they want to dedicate a drive to a single device. I would like to speculate, that this might be a good place for lsfs on raw device, instead of ntfs on top. the cache drive would be able to bypass the ntfs filesystem overhead, i fit were allowed to b...

Re: Obgect storage as massive storage pool

do you want massive storage, or specifically object storage? starwind does massive storage just fine, but is a block based technology. I don't read into his post that he wants to layer vmware virtual san on top of starwind...I think he abbreviated VS as starwind virtual san. so, this is the main use...

Re: HA with *NO* common subnet between nodes?

I got an async replication partnership created to a cloud node(other one probably failed because I was trying windows 2008, 2012 cloud node worked just fine) is there a requirement for 2 public ip addresses here, shouldn't the internal node just push the DR sync? can an async be mounted read only, f...

Re: HA with *NO* common subnet between nodes?

any update on the DR? I tried to create an async target on a cloud server, and I'm getting an error. I do see the free select option, and select the right interfaces on each host for sync, and heartbeat...but of course I don't have the ability to select a seperate heartbeat channel, since the cloud ...

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

problem only occurs on refresh button click, simply disconnecting, and reconnecting targets causes no issues, maybe this is why no one sees this, I'm the only one that clicks the refresh button, lol.

Re: windows network connections reset after change in initia

sorry for so many updates, but I'm just posting info as I troubleshoot. I can recreate this every time, and now have a sure fire way to get the wan back. I have to go into the adapter tcp/ip v4 settings, and change the subnet mask from 255.255.255.0 to 255.255.0.0, then back again...which seems like...
