Re: Again some questions about LSFS devices

What does the 2,5 to 3 factor mean for "real" life ? Example: - 6 TB NTFS Volume for LSFS-placement - you should never define the LSFS volume/device greater than 2 TB on top of 6 TB NTFS volume ? - because LSFS consums up to 6TB with .spspx files in production ? So (in this example) there...

Re: SW v8 build 8730 VAAI on ESXi 6.0 U1B

lohelle, the most important feature of VAAI, is all of it. Thanks Actually, I don't agree here, as the other features mostly help on performance , but missing VAAI UNMAP/DELETE prevents the thin-provisioned volume from shrinking as it should/could. PERFORMACE, that's what LSFS was created for. Does...

Tarass, can you put this web link on your webpage menu, under support or products.
because I can't seem to find it unless I search the forum.

Thanks.

Re: Memory calculator/v8 is unrealistic

1. V6 will be supported after v8 release. 2. Yes, current implementation of LSFS does have such requirements. This is because it operates with much smaller blocks, 4kB vs 4MBs in thin provisioning of v6. LSFS supports larger block sizes, and memory requirements are significantly lower for LSFS with...

Some Best-Practies to keep in mind

https://www.starwindsoftware.com/technical_papers/StarWind-High-Availability-Best-practices.pdf page 18 with LSFS don't use Storage Spaces raid. use separate disk/partition for OS & VM's use GUID Partition Table (GPT) page 19 if storage spaces is used, select 4k for virtual disk sector size keep...

Re: SW v8 build 8730 VAAI on ESXi 6.0 U1B

Thanks.

So LSFS dedup works ok. :) , it seems like ages.
but esxi VAAI does not.

Can you try esxi VAAI on a non-dedup lsfs volume?

Thanks again.

Re: A New SPSPX File Generated every 12mins

Hi guys, LSFS-growth issue was fixed in the latest version (Build 8730) however, LSFS devices created in previous versions might still be improper. If this is your case, please do not hesitate to recreate such devices from scratch using the newest StarWind Virtual SAN version. This is what I was lo...

I have around 90TB of Veeam backups which I'm currently using with Server 2012 R2 Post-processing de-duplication. I'm looking for a was to do this de-duplication in-line.
Tarass, What would be a good recommended setup for David, with his current setup?

Thanks.

Re: VMware deduplicated Datastore with StarWind

I have moved several VMs on this StarWind Datastore and after a comparison between VMware Datastore space usage and StarWind files, I see: VMware Datastore 380 GB used, StarWind summation size 180 GB with deduplication ratio 2.25. Which version of Virtual SAN, are you using ? What's the actual lsfs...

Need LSFS info update on v8.0.8198

Hi, This is for all users of LSFS & StarWind. Is anyone here using LSFS in production? What's your setup like? any problems? If you are not using LSFS, what are you using(even if it's not StarWind)? What is the current status of LSFS ? What's the status on defrag & dedup with LSFS? [Problems...

Re: from v8.0.7471 to v8.0.7774 ???

I now deleted the VM from esxi using the vSphere Client.
no iops
no server log
no event
73 files with 35.7GB

but if I browse the iSCSI Lun, that VM is gone.

will now run the unmap command.

brb

Thanks.
