Re: Migrate HA target from LSFS to Flat?

I that is the best you got, I will have to live with it. First, it is nice to know that the recommendations on LSFS have changed. When v8 was released, it was recommended to move from flat LSFS even in the case of all flash. Second, for most workloads this will entail significant downtime. Third, it...

Latest Release Notes?

Release notes at https://www.starwindsoftware.com/release-notes-build list build 8730 as latest File at http://starwindsoftware.com/tmplink/starwind-v8.exe appears to be build 9052. Should I be looking in a different place for release notes? Thank you for any consideration you can pay this matter. ~...

Migrate HA target from LSFS to Flat?

Hello: Please excuse me if this is covered elsewhere, but I could not find a way to do it online or even without restore from backup. We have a 2-Node HA cluster with 2 targets using Flat files and 1 using LSFS. The LSFS is too much of a pain for us with no visible gain. (Horribly long startup times...

v8.0.8198 Uninstall JUST VSS Provider

Hello: I am troubleshooting an odd issue and want to try uninstalling the hardware VSS provider. OS is 2012 R2 Datacenter. Is there a way to uninstall or at least disable the provider without completely uninstalling StarWind? The machine is both a HA StarWind Host and HA Hyper-V host. Both hosts are...

Native SAN for Hyper-V Network Configuration Question

Hello:

I am setting up Native SAN for Hyper-V. I have two 10GbE links for SAN traffic. Is it better to dedicate one link for sync traffic and one for initiator traffic or to use both links for both types?

Re: High Availability StarWind iSCSI

A quick note: What you want to do is setup a MSSQL Failover Cluster. Just installing SQL on 2 servers and switching the disk back and forth will not work. Use the HA iSCSI disk(s) as your cluster disk(s).

Re: v8.0RC0 Mutiple HA LUNs per Target?

Are there plans to change this? We have been delaying use of our v6 environment because of support for mulitple LUNs. It is very disappointing to find it not available for HA. Managing paths for multiple targets is quite cumbersome. On our largest cluster there are 9 LUNs x 8 paths per target x 2 ta...

v8.0RC0 Mutiple HA LUNs per Target?

Hello: I just went through some initial tests with v8.0 RC0. We were unable to find a way to create mulitple HA LUNs for a single target. Once a replication partner had been added to a device, there was no longer an option to add additional deivices. Also, attempts to add a replication partner to a ...

Re: NIC iSCSi offloading: Experience & feedback

I want to echo the above. In almost every real world case I have seen, offloading either did little to help performance or harmed performance. The few cases where it has helped throughput were machines that were CPU bound. If you have either initiators or targets that often run in excess of 80% cpu ...

Re: HA Cluster - Clean Reboot of one node caused disconect

Anatoly:

We have already performed the update. It is hard to know if the issue is resolved. Under the old code we rebooted over a dozen times without issue. I feel comfortable that there is nothing more to be done at this time.

Re: HA Cluster - Clean Reboot of one node caused disconect

Wow! I missed that we were on such an old version. The installers must have gotten mixed up. I think it is a testament to the quality of StarWind that the original 6.0.0 release has worked so well.

I have confirmed that no errors were reported in the Windows or IPMI event logs.

Re: Starwind V6 Cluster - Migration Guidance

Anatoly: Thank you for the guidance. I have one follow up question. It loosks like this process requires full synchronizations as opposed to differential. Is that the case? That is to say should I plan on syncing the full 10TB of exported disks? Or just the few GB that change for the duration of the...

HA Cluster - Clean Reboot of one node caused disconect

Hello: While performing maintenance on our HA Cluster, we rebooted one of the 2 nodes. Historically this has been handed gracefully. This time BOTH hosts sent logout messages to the initiators and it was 6 minutes! until the initiators could log back in again. This affected some (possibly all) HA LU...
