Re: StarWind iSCSI SAN Version 8.0 Beta

V8 looks great! Also, 3400 write IOPS (all virtual and against an already taxed SAN) is awesome! More details on my initial test here: http://blogs.serioustek.net/post.aspx?id=81643cc9-86c9-4584-8cea-1eb5bfba1d8b Question 1: I wasn't able to find any reporting in the new console...is there a differe...

Re: Changes to target\device, issue with datastore

I had some time yesterday since our office was closed - I've installed the 20120927 successfully. Granted, I'm not willing to test to make sure that it's working...either way the install was simple and straight forward. I hope that any of your staff in MA are ok after Sandy - we didn't get hit too b...

Re: Changes to target\device, issue with datastore

Alexey-

Thanks for the update - curious, any details on what had happened?

Also, I'm a bit hesitent to do an update without first SVMing everything off the datastore in question...is this warranted? I will see if I can find some time to get the updated code running this week.

Thanks again!

Re: Previous files missing from a clustered(shared) iscsi target

I'm assuming that these Windows 7 PCs are not clustered? Is the volume formatted as NTFS? if that is the case, NTFS is NOT a clustering file system, and it simply will not work. See this thread: http://www.starwindsoftware.com/forums/starwind-f5/trying-clear-this-use-iscsi-instead-smb-t1392.html The...

Changes to target\device, issue with datastore

Just wanted to run this past everyone to get some input, make sure I'm sane...and see if I'm missing anything. Currently, I publish 2 300GB deduped targets to an ESX cluster (no StarWind HA...just a single server with deduped devices). I recently noticed that one of the spdata files had grown HUGE -...

Re: StarWind V5.9/6.0 Beta

Just realized that the latest build is 6.0.4768...I'm running 6.0.4703.

Is that why I'm missing that option (or just blind)?

Re: StarWind V5.9/6.0 Beta

StarWind- Can you provide some guidance about deduped disks - specifically with ESX. With dedupe, you say to thick-provision vmdks - which is done. My lab setup\example: 2 300GB dedupe disk presented to ESX In VMware, both show around 130GB free - this is equal to each of the vmdks total size. Now t...

Re: StarWind V5.9/6.0 Beta

SW- With version 6 on a deduped device, there's another option for dedupe block size - 'Auto'. I'm wondering what the recomendation is for block size - is it still 4K, or will Auto yield a better results? I'm assuming all Windows VMs make a difference to this too.. Thanks guys - I've been using 6 be...
