On my Windows XP laptop, the latest Starwind (6.0.5189) only installs the Console. Is there a way to persuade the installation file to also install the service files?

Done it. I'm all new now (respectively my starwind.cfg).

I fixed it myself. I removed the comment markers (<!-- -->) around the targets entry in starwind.cfg and after a restart of StarWindService.exe the target appeared, I attached my device to the target and the information was written to the config file. Alexey, I am running StarWindService with "-o", that's how the log files got created I sent yesterday together with the screenshots. I'm also running StarWindService as admin and without UAC. If you had a look at the cfg file I sent you would see that the file got updated - with the device...

So "<!--" does not introduce a comment and "-->" does not end it?
