Re: Synchronization Journal

Thanks for that I have played around with a few HA devices of 1Gb to see how it works. Interested in the procedure to convert an existing device to file based journaling? It looks like the only way is to delete its replication partner and recreate with file based journaling but I'll wait to see what...

Re: Synchronization Journal

I have the paid version, Hyper-V Virtual SAN 2 Nodes 4Tb shared storage.
Where do I find documentation about the set up, the name of the script and the commands to issue?

Synchronization Journal

Is there any information available on this new feature?
Can it be applied to existing HA Images?
What are the respective trade offs between the two strategies. Can you alter the strategy after it is created?

Logical Sector Size Flash and HDD Storage Pool Virtual Disks

I am part way through the purchase of Starwind VSAN Standard edition. Running Windows Server 2016 I have 2 storage pools one with virtual disk of 1TB of 2 SSDs mirrored and the other virtual disk of 2Tb of 2 mirrored HDDs. Does it matter that the SSD that I will use for the Flash cache have a 512 lo...

Re: Questions Starwind Free Edition

With regard to MPIO, I have been unable to connect stand alone server to a target that does not have clustering support set on it. What if any affect does turning clustering support on have on performance? Am I right that turning on clustering for a Starwind target is required to use Windows 2008 R2...

Questions Starwind Free Edition

While setting up a Cluster Shared Volume and transferring an existing VHD of 20Gb to the cluster volume on a Windows 2008 R2 Datacenter Hyper-V in our development lab the host's grew by some 4Gb while caching the writes to the Starwind clustered target with a 3Gb cache and write-back caching strateg...

Re: Windows Server 2012 RC - StarWind Free Edition Errors

You were right the cause was the Raid controller choosing a 1K sector size instead of a 512 byte.

Re: StarWind SMI-S and integrations with SCVMM 2012

Dear Ticktok, Hi Yurly, Another issue which is unlikely to be a problem in production environments is that if you remove all LUNs from a target in VMM 2012 then the SMI-S agent deletes the folder on which the LUNs reside, making it impossible to create further LUNs. This issue already corrected in ...

Re: StarWind SMI-S and integrations with SCVMM 2012

Hi Yurly, I have installed, reconfigured, rebooted etc. I made sure the drive path was pointing to the correct folder but the issue of Targets with clustering set as an option still do not return the available storage of the Volume on which the target resides. Another issue which is unlikely to be a...

Re: StarWind SMI-S and integrations with SCVMM 2012

Dear ticktok, That is exatcly what Yuriy was talking about. Please review the matter again: It is normal that you see 0 GB of Available Capacity because we are SAN (not NAS). We can only allocate space for LUN, but can't say what part of space is currently used or free. We assume that all space is ...
