Sorry Yaroslav. Re: Local RAM disk very slow

Hi Yaroslav,

I have already changed the registry key, I understand that 262144 in decimal, right?

Would I have to change also this parameter in Starwind?

Thanks.

Re: Local RAM disk very slow

Hi,
I am using a single local server. The RAM disk is on the same server from which I am making the connection(s).
My question is, is this the maximum speed you can get through iSCSI with a single server?

Re: Local RAM disk very slow

Hi Yaroslav I'm sorry but I can't use NVMe-oF because the barebone servers are on a cloud provider (OVH) and I have to use a LACP team, so the RDMA is disabled. My question is, can't iSCSI give more than this performance even if the performance of the substorage, in this case Ramdisk, is much higher?

Local RAM disk very slow

Hi it's been a while since I've been around, and I haven't used VSAN for a while, but I have come up with a project in which it could be interesting to use it. I have started to perform the basic configuration following the "Best Practices" and I find that with the performance tests in loc...

L1 RAM recommendation

Hello,
In v8, what is the recommendation for the L1 cache with a 3TB drive with deduplication enabled ?
The server has 32GB of ram . Do I have to use the maximum possible , ie a 30GB RAM ?, or I have to leave free RAM for the deduplication?

Re: Performance Best Practices - V8 and Server 2012 R2

In a paper by Max & Bodhan, Starwind wrote: (http://www.starwindsoftware.com/starwind-high-availability-best-practices) "It is recommended to provision 256MB–1GB of caching per each terabyte of the HA device’s size. Although, the maximum recommended cache size is 3GB. For most scenarios, bi...

L2 Cache questions

Hello everybody, I'm testing the beta, especially the L2 cache and have several questions about what would be the right thing for safety and performance. Without HA, is it totally safe to use L2 cache in writeback mode with SSD ? (The SSD with power-fail capacitors and RAID1, of course) Using same S...

Hi Bohdan,

I do not understand. This is the same version as before (beta2 b6049). Is there a mistake?

Re: Build 6.0.5055 Cache

Hi Anatoly, Only for clarifying, In free version 6.0.4837 (not HA mode) there is no limit for cache. In free version 6.0.5055 and version 6.0.5061 (not HA mode) the cache size per device is limited to 512MB. If so, this is a total nuisance, since I will not be able to test hardware with StarWind at ...

Re: Build 6.0.5055 Cache

Hello,

That limit is totally inappropriate to do performance testing with the hardware, I guess that only applies in HA mode, is this Anatoly?
If not, do not see the advantage of upgrading to this version.
