Re: iSCSI target keeps getting set to Deny on the Access Rights

The problem with all of this was that I previously had Starwind Free installed on the WD Sentinel prior to Western Digital including your software in the latest release. Unfortunately, updating the firmware without reading the release notes is my fault, but both were attempting to be installed under...

Re: RAID and disk setup for new starwind server

Should i combine all 14 drives into a single raid 10 volume despite the mix of sizes and speed, keeping the 15th drive as a hot spare?

Starwind software included with Western Digital Sentinel

I recently upgraded the software build on my Western Digital Sentinel array to the latest (version 01.05.07.30) but didn't read the release notes. I had previously installed starwind free versin 5.8 and have upgraded to 6.0.5189. I am seeing reliability issues with targets going down now and in read...

Re: iSCSI target keeps getting set to Deny on the Access Rights

I see in the release notes for the WD firmware update I applied that iscsi target management is now provided ootb in the WD dashboard from starwind, so wondering if my full install of starwind software on here is causing the issue. Can they both work together? I am guessing not and I am not able to ...

Adding StarWind to Western Digital Sentinel server

We are looking at buying a Western digital sentinel 8 TB server for backups of our existing shared file systems and was wondering if we could add StarWind to this server. It runs Microsoft Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 Essentials and I can remote desktop into the server, however, the processor and ...

Re: Migration from OpenFiler to StarWind

I will check out the requirements. Unless I buy a new server, not sure how I migrate all the data. Could/Should I but a 2 TB USB drive and hook it up to a virtual machine running your software, copy all the data, then reformat everything on the current OpenFiler server? Also, you didn't address how ...

Migration from OpenFiler to StarWind

We are a small business that is looking to replace our current OpenFiler based solution. We use VMware ESXi heavily for dev/test environments and OpenFiler is providing iSCSI storage to two ESXi 4.1u1 hosts today. Additionally, OpenFiler is providing SMB and NFS mounts out to employees for common so...
