Re: Hardware Setup with HA

So you're saying that if I use write-back cache, I should still get decent performance as the targets will be used to serve VM images, so heavy random data.

Hardware Setup with HA

Hi all, Some advice will be appreciated. I have two different server types that I want to use in a HA setup. One is a Intel 12bay, and another a SuperMicro 24 bay(only 12 populated). The Intel has an Adaptec 5405Z 3GB SAS/SATA controller with 12 3TB 6G SATA disks attached in RAID10(I know the disks ...

Re: On the way to HA

Hi,

I have just had some info that as long as you created the image with that header size, you will still see the message, but you will NOT losse the data. I have just tried it, and even though I got the message, the data was still intact.

A scary message to see though!

Re: StarWind road map

Hi, There is now a slider to give priority to sync or I/O, also nice. Didnt see anything about HA and poweroff. Maybe more under the hood, so someone with more inside info might have to answer. Does 5.7 implement any HA re-sync throttling? Or keep state during complete power off of both sides? Thank...

Re: StarWind road map

Thanks for the info. Eagerly awaiting 5.8. Like the performance counters in 5.7 btw. It's not part of V5.7 we'll release soon, it's part of V5.8 we don't have in beta stage yet. This or next week we'll publish V5.7 gold and in a couple of weeks we do expect to have V5.8 in leak-able state so you cou...

Re: StarWind road map

I have now got access to the 5.7 beta release, but it does not seem to include the HA-to-offsite feature. Has this been postponed?

Re: On the way to HA

Thanks for the response. On a seperate test machine, I created a target with a normal .img file. Mounted it, copied data into it. Then I removed the target, and created a new target with HA enabled, and pointed it to the existing .img file. I got a message saying that the img file was not HA compati...

On the way to HA

Hi all, How can the following be done please? I have 2 servers that will be used for HA. However, only 1 system is availible now(which will become the secondary), with the data still sat on the other machine (that will become the primary) This machine is not running StarWind at the moment. So I want...

Re: Starwind with DR

A couple of remarks... We've dropped implementation we've originally planned to put into production and switched to completely new one. So instead of 2x-3x WAN acceleration we'll have both off-line (taken snapshots) and on-line (active snapshot) async replication modes and it would have at least 10...

Re: Need help deciding between starwind and equallogic

Can you tease us with an ETA on the all-singing-all-dancing release? Well... We've re-scheduled our features list and released planned de-duplication engine BEFORE updating HA with CDP stuff. Good news: new engine does support both CDP / snapshots / dedupe on the same code base. So you'll have every...
