Re: Starwind iSCSI service slow to start

I am looking at about 30 targets. I didn't find anything in the logs but again, I am not sure what I am looking for. Synch size varies from 1024 MB Quorum files to a large 1.8TB data file. Most are in the 30GB - 60GB range

Synch Question

I have both my HA devices back up and on line. I am getting some errors about Synchronization cannot be started. Waiting for connection from partner. Some of my targets can be synched. I need to know, if SAN01 has the most current information, do I initiate the synch from SAN02 to force SAN02 to hav...

Re: Starwind iSCSI service slow to start

I upgraded to the latest version (.1733) and the service restart is killing me. Over 30 minutes now and I know my synchs are going to be several hours for all to be completed. I am not sure what is going on in the background but something should be looked at. Maybe the service is trying to reconnect...

Starwind iSCSI service slow to start

I am in the process of an emergency reboot of my SAN. The SAN is up but the Starwind iSCSI service is very slow to start. It is almost like it is hung on "starting". I am talking in the 15 - 20 minute range and I have production machines that need to get back up ASAP. I have just upgraded ...

iSCSIPrt Errors

I am noticing a lot of iSCSIPRT errors (event id 7 and 20). Not sure what is happening or how this is affecting my network. I haven't noticed latency but I am concerned there is a bigger event that may happen if this doesn't get resolved. ID 7: The initiator could not send an iSCSI PDU. Error status...

Re: On the way to HA

I was in the same/similar situation where I needed to build out one SAN before I could get the second reprovisioned. To my knowledge there is no HA on the fly technology. Naturally the moderators here can best answer this question if I misspeak. The bad news is you will need to disconnect each targe...

Re: How to determine remaining space on SAN

I have a 4TB HA license and it would be nice to know how close I am. I can create a test .img file and make it large enough that the software will tell me how much I am over but it would be nice to just click a tab, link or menu item and have the amount free/used there.

How to determine remaining space on SAN

If this isn't a current feature it would be helpful.

I am trying to determine the amount of space I have remaining on my Starwind SAN. I have been just adding up the size of the .img files but I am now looking at a new project that may push the limit of my license.

Thanks,

DC and HA

I have two DCs in my environment (one physical and one virtual). I migrating my virtual DC to my HA SAN but I am wondering if it would be good to make the DC highly available or just create a third DC on the partner SAN?

Re: Permission Error

Do you hear that sound? The sound of my forehead banging against my desk feeling like an idiot for not doing that first. Thanks, it worked, sort of. I am getting this error now. I am not comfortable with "Everyone" having Full Control but I will tinker with it and see where the breaking po...

Permission Error

I am trying to create new VMs on my StarWind SAN that are not clustered or part of an .img file but when I do I get the following errors (see attachment). I understand it is a permission issue but I am having issues identifying what and where. I have also posted this on the Microsoft forums but I am...

Re: Shadow Copies

Thanks for the quick reply Anton. I was thinking this through and as I moved around between the nodes in the cluster it dawned on me to just create a new LUN, attach to each node in the cluster (as with the shares I already connected). I then went to the properties of each drive in Disk Management a...

Shadow Copies

This may be a MS question but I need to start somewhere. I have my StarWind HA running along now and as I am working on other parts of my infrastructure to create a HA environment I stumbled on an area of question. I have 4 VMs running file share services. I have several targets (LUNs) advertised to...

Re: Another HA question

This has. One last question regarding this. Do I have to create HA targets for all of my VMs or will the HA quorum work? I wish there was a way to take existing targets and make them HA on the fly.

Thanks again.
