Re: Authentication failed..followed by starwind server crash

running 5.2 My last dump file from 3-14 was 345MB, but 25MB compressed. is there another way to get you the dump file? I guess I could winrar into a few smaller parts. On the initiator side, they disconnect and reconnect frequently every 3-4 minutes. On the target side i see things like "Manage...

Re: Authentication failed..followed by starwind server crash

Authentication failed..followed by starwind server crash

I have a situation where our MS initiator start getting "authentication failed" (we are not using authentication) on targets. At this point I cannot remove the effected target(was going to remove and re-add). I go to restart the Starwind service and the service hangs. At this point I canno...

Re: Sync status

Sorry.. Yes its starport mirroring a local image file to a remote starwind ISCSI target. It actually finished syncing this morning. Not bad for a 500GB image over a 5Mbps WAN connection.

Thanks for the response.

Sync status

My Mirror (local image + remote Starwind SCSI target) broke due to an unexpected, and dirty shudown. The mirror device is 500GB of which around 300GB is filled with data. My question is wheather it is faster to re-sync the mirror or replace the mirror? I am syncing them for now, but I cannot find a ...

Re: starport 5.5 Mirror Fast initialization

For the "fill with zero" option I understand will take time, but the sync option, where the primary or active mirror is a new, empty image I would think could sync alot quicker. That is my question, is there a way to quickly sync and initialize two new raw images?

Re: starport 5.5 Mirror Fast initialization

If both images are raw.. empty.. etc.. shouldn't the initialization be pretty quick? There is not data to sync at that point.

Re: starport 5.5 Mirror Fast initialization

For the time being I have converted both the local and remote image from basic to dynamic disks so the OS could mirror them quickly.. This isn't ideal for a variety of reasons. Again, I am not sure how I got the 500GB raid one device to initialize so quickly.. but it works great. Backups run to both...

starport 5.5 Mirror Fast initialization

I am using starport 5.5 to mirror a local image and a remote ISCSI(starwind) target. I am mounting the mirrored volume as the backup device for win2k8 environment. Both the local and remote images are raw and have never been mounted. My question is this: Is there a fast way to intialize the empty mi...

Re: Disk initialization = data error (cyclic redundancy check)

The success was short lived... Not sure how it worked.

I ended up blowing away the array and rebuilding it using 512 byte blocks... I just need it working for now.

Re: create (RAID -1 Device) option greyed out

Constantin,

Anything else I can try to enable this option? As I mentioned, I pulled this up on a couple of different boxes with the same results.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
