Re: Volume data migration (san-like) with StarWind

I am in the beta for 5.5, can I use that for testing, or does that have functions removed ?

Re: Volume data migration (san-like) with StarWind

If I would like to experiment with this, can I acquire a trial for the appropriate version, and some instructions so I can test out the scenarios ?

Thanks for the quick reply!

Volume data migration (san-like) with StarWind

Hello! My company is currently using Starwind for some minor exports of iscsi targets, but we are looking at our ability to build a san-like structure ourselves, with the full Starwind HA at it's core. One of the questions I have, is, can the starwind server do san-like data online data migration be...

Multiple computer to one IBV Share ?

If I would configure a IBV share (that drops its logs, its just for temporary connections, no file saving), is it possible to connect multiple computers to the same share, instead of creating multiple shares ? The reason is that if one would connect 1connection/each, then one doesent know which one ...

Thankyou for your answers.

I will think them over, and come back to you.

One quick question to Valery, how do I set extent size ? How much will
the journaling space requirements go up ?

Thankyou kindly,
Damir

Hello! Yes I would! As you can see, I am slow to respond. I have very little time to dedicate to this project, and considering it times out so quickly (15 days), I usually do a batch of testing, and then leave it for a long while until I can focus on it again. In this case, that was 4 months! I´ve b...

Valery, as far as I understand you, you are not enterily correct. Both me and Lou are asking for pure buffering on the imagefiles, let even the OS handle it. That kind of functionality does NOT exist in StarWind today, as you yourself said in "Some QUestions" thred, when answering Lou. whe...

StarPort ? That wouldnt help much ? Or did you missunderstand me, becouse I would think that StarWind(target) should do the catching ? Windows can do it too, if you dont require unbuffered reads only. And I am sure more people will be interested in a "fast" networked iSCSI, as iSCSI and SA...

Hey ! Actually, for my planned uses, and with my testing, a cache (say about 512MB used of a 1GB windows machine) would huge difference. I will need to store huge amounts of data on the iSCSI, but the stuff that is read in one session is allways very localized, or there are very many clients reading...
