Thanks for the suggestion. The flat file fixed the problem.
I wrote 300GB of data and there was practically no fragmentation on the target. I made sure to defrag the empty flat file prior to writing any data.

I should note that some colleagues have been testing a similar target setup but have been using WinTarget (String Bean) instead of StarWind. I'm using 2.6.1 and created a 1.5TB (1500GB) file with mksparse and published it. On a W2K3 server using the MS Initiator 1.06 the published device only mounts as a 1023GB disk. I also tried the 2.6.1 version of Starport and achieved the same result. Is this a limitation of StarWind or the Initiator...
