I'm investigating the 'Storinator' which is an evolution of the storage pods that power the Backblaze backup service. These support 45 drives in each enclosure and are competitively priced.

There does not appear to be an option for Hardware raid however, just 2 different types of HBA. You mention in your best practice guides that software RAID is not supported, however I can see the guide is a few years old.

With this in mind, what is the recommended configurations presently?

I have requirements for storage of 30 - 50 TB, the largest single volume would be around 10TB. Would Storage Spaces be the best route?

Hello tftp_jcp,

We are not supporting MSFT Storage Spaces and other software storage aggregation solutions. Hardware RAID is recommended in order to achieve best stability and performance.
