Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask in but here goes:

We have several installations of Hyper converged SAN's on 2 Node hardware running V8 (not latest build, v 6884) for Hyper-V (server 2012 R2)
Current License is 1TB across 2 nodes
New requirement is to uplift the license to 2TB across the same 2 nodes
The underlying disk is already in place and available for use.
We got a license via a 3'rd party preferred vendor from Starwinds.
We provided the current license details prior to receiving the new license.

Question/Issue:
How does one uplift the license?
Do you: Just apply a new license via the Management console on each server node, register and Modify option?
OR: Do you unregister the current license first and apply the new license?

What was attempted thus far:
I attempted to use the Modify option and selected the new license file as provided (*.swk file) but the console popped and error, saying the key was invalid.
I opened the license file and it looks ok, but the layout is slightly different than the original key applied to the cluster, not sure if it matters.

A case was opened with Starwinds licensing support as well, but due to time differences we have not heard from them yet, so I was thinking maybe some-one here could at least help me understand how the process is supposed to work.
1. Do I need to disconnect the load first from each node in turn or should this work transparently?
2. Any instructions out there on this?

Thanks.

Hi!

As far as I understood you are attempting to install the new license key to the old version of the software.
Can you please tell me what is the build number that you are using?

P.S. actually I have replied to your original support request, so we can continue our conversation there if you don`t mind.

Thank you
