We have two ESX nodes running 5.5 U1. We have two Starwinds VMs running Win Server 2012. We are running this in hyper-converged.

When we do a rescan of ESX iSCSI Adapter the scan takes min of 30 mins. When we try to format storage. It takes more then an 1 hour to identify the storage. It seem like it takes forever to do anything between ESX and Starwinds.

Jumbo Frames are enabled and we can ping between the host and storage.

Any ideas?

Hi!
To get to the bottom of the issue we need to see how everything is wired in the configuration.
1. Network diagram of the iSCSI environment
2. VMware vSwitch & vmkernel configuration
3. Dynamic and static discovery addresses list on vSphere hosts.

Also, long rescan often happens if there are phantom paths or targets which VMware is trying to pull up before it actually finds the working ones.
Keep in mind that the hosts may reboot much longer in your case, please refrain from reboots or detach all iSCSI devices and turn off initiator before the reboot.
As soon as we find and fix the issue the last measure won't be necessary anymore.
