VMWare (rhel linux vm) to HYPER-V Migration

Hello Guys,
I'm new here, just testing the V2V,
I have VMWare Version 6.7 and I have VM with OS of Rhel 9 Linux.
I have successfully migrated using StarWind v2v to Hyper-V.
But upon boot up of the Rhel Linux on Hyper-V the OS is corrupted / not boot successfully.
See the error in Hyper-V
Any suggestions? thanks in advance

Welcome to StarWind Forum!
That's because of drivers.
Also, try GEN1 VM and connecting that disk as VHD to IDE controller.

hi yaroslav, thank you.
May I know what do you mean by GEN1 VM?
And sorry, how can I do this "connecting that disk as VHD to IDE controller"
I appreciate your help.
currently, these are the settings of the migrated VM RHEL Linux.

When creating the VM, it is possible to create a GEN1 or GEN2 VM. Recreate that VM using the existing disks as GEN1. More on VM generations here
https://www.nakivo.com/blog/hyper-v-generation-1-vs-2/
What I am also thinking is that the drivers (e.g., VMware tools) could be there, preventing the VM from booting up.
The problem you are getting is fairly common for cross-hypervisor conversions with any tool.

hello yaroslav,
Sorry, this is my understanding, you want me to create a Gen1 VM and connect the existing VHD file of RHEL Linux VM?

Yup.
This might not fix the issue, as it could be just related to drivers. If your backup software allows for something like instant recovery, you could do it for cross-hypervisor conversion to test my idea about the drivers. If the VM does not boot after converting with a different tool, there's something inside that VM.
If none of the workaround helps, and you still are unable to locate those drivers, you will need to replace the "broken" volume with something new.
