Re: MPIO preferred or weighted paths not persistent through reboot

Yeah, it sure sounds like the same issue. At the end of the day it 'works' and fails over properly, but I've noticed that I get much better performance when a host is using its local storage using the loop back acceleration. At this point I'm wondering if there is a script I can setup to run after a...

Re: MPIO preferred or weighted paths not persistent through reboot

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, I've double checked the settings both in the iSCSI Imitator (this is where I've been setting the weight of each path that don't survive a reboot), as well as through the disk properties in Disk Manager (where I've tried to set the preferred path, but the check box get...

MPIO preferred or weighted paths not persistent through reboot

Hello all, I'm having an issue where our MPIO paths are not 'sticking'. We have a 3-node Virtual SAN/Hyper-V cluster running on Windows 2012 R2 and Starwind Virtual SAN v8 (latest build as of today). Everything works 100% by the way - this is just a failover/failback issue, so I don't *think* its a ...

That was my gut feeling - thanks for the confirmation.

Re: Setup Question

If your running Hyper-V on the same node that your running Starwind, you can take advantage of local loopback acceleration to access that local CSV directly, and set your MPIO policy to failover to the other node. You'd do the same on the parnter node, that way they run local workloads on local disk...

PCIe SSD vs SATA SSD

We're looking to build a 3-node hyper-v cluster using Starwind v8. I have a question about SSD and thoughts on the best configurations. Essentially for the same amount of money we can get a single 480GB PCIe SSD for L2 cache or two SATA-3 based SSD's attached to the RAID controller (480GB x 2 in a R...

Re: Asynchronous WAN replication

Is needing two channels for WAN replication still an issue? This earlier post seemed to suggest it had been addressed: http://www.starwindsoftware.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=3529&p=20903&hilit=Asynchronous#p20903 We're looking to implement this, but hoping it is a bit more "WAN...

Re: Replication never goes over 1Gbit

Yes, I would assume that would be the case with live or 'real-time' I/O that are ongoing while the cluster is 'in-sync'. Is that the case though while doing a full sync with no client I/O active, and the replication priority set to 'faster sync'? I would assume in that case it would be starting at t...

Re: Replication never goes over 1Gbit

We have a 6 disk (SATA) RAID 10, and disk test show it's capable of ~340MB/sec Read and ~290MB/sec write (sequential, and I'm assuming an image replication would be mostly sequential? I'm guessing). That's a good idea with the RAM drive to take disk subsystem out of the equation. I'll give that a tr...

Re: Replication never goes over 1Gbit

Yes, I've moved the slider all the way to the left (Faster Sync). The latency between hosts is <1ms using ping test over an extended period. Please see attached screenshots of ntttcp test (was able to get 1130 MB/sec). We are syncing a flat image file and no load on server during sync. What strikes ...

Replication never goes over 1Gbit

We have 2 x 2012 R2 Server running v8 (although this issue existing with v6 as well). There is a direct connection between the two systems using IPoIB for sync channel. When using iperf I can get 8.79Gbit/sec across the link. However when Starwind is performing a fully sync it will get to 1Gbit (aro...
