Re: HA Performance Issues - MPIO Round Robin

Not sure how to configure the interrupts on the NICs; I'll need a little more help on that one :) I have Intel NICs, and don't have any Broadcom NICs laying around. I did upgrade the drivers at one point thinking that might help. but it has not made an apparent difference. But I guess I"m confu...

Re: HA Performance Issues - MPIO Round Robin

OK, after moving my 10 Gigabit cards to the x8 slots, and updating the BIOS on both servers, I can now get 99% utilization on my 10 Gigabit Sync channel using NTttcp (99% - 9,831.570 Mbit/s) But, I'm still getting poor results using Iometer with Full Round Robin to all 4 paths to the storage (30-35 ...

Re: HA Performance Issues - MPIO Round Robin

In digging around the windows event logs, It looks like my 10 Gigabit Cards are installed in an x4 rather than an x8 PCI-express slot. Hope to get them moved over and hopefully that will fix it.

Re: HA Performance Issues - MPIO Round Robin

Anatoly - you advised that it looked like a network issue to you. What in the results I sent points to that? What numbers should I expect to see using NTttcp?

Thanks!

Anatoly - here are my results for the 10 Gigabit Sync channel:

NTttcp - 67% - 6,661.305 Mbit/s

IOMeter - 67% - 775 MG/s

Re: HA Performance Issues - MPIO Round Robin

Aitor, I have two HP ProCurve Gigabit Switches. They are interconnected via two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports that are trunked together as HP trunk ports. The iSCSI subnets are on separate VLANs. The Trunk Ports carry the traffic for both VLANS, but how I currently have it cabled is that all of the NICs...

HA Performance Issues - MPIO Round Robin

I'm having an HA performance Issue involving MPIO on my Windows 2008 R2 Servers connecting to the back-end StarWind Storage. We have a 2 node HA Cluster running version 5.8.1964. The issue is that when we specify all 4 paths to our storage in MPIO, the performance is only about 20% of what we get ot...

Re: Version 5.8.1889.0

Thanks. I assume since I'm at 5.8 HA already, that upgrading to the most recent build won't require me to take my VMs offline during the upgrade process? Just upgrade first node, sync, then upgrade 2nd node, sync?

I'm also on 5.8.1889.0. Where can I download version 5.8.1907 ?

Re: Starwind HA target with hardware VSS provider and Veeam

To summarize, when using HA Targets, you cannot currently in Version 5.8 use the Starwind Hardware VSS Provider on a Hyper-V host, correct?

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: Upgrade is causing problems

So just to clarify, you do NOT have to recreate your HA targets, only take them offline for a short time period, correct?

Re: Upgrade is causing problems

When you upgrade from V 5.7 to V 5.8, is it required to "recreate the HA images", or just take them offline for a short time during the upgrade process? Is there a PDF of the release notes / upgrade procedure for moving to 5.8?

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: DPM Backup of Cluster Shared Volumes Starwind VSS Provider

Thanks Anton, 2 more quick questions:

1) Is the Hardware VSS provider a separate installer that you run directly on your HyperV Hosts?

2) I assume that the hardware VSS provider requires V 5.8, or does it also work with 5.7?

Thanks,
Jeff

Re: DPM Backup of Cluster Shared Volumes Starwind VSS Provider

An update since we've been using DPM 2010 to backup the at the VM level using the software VSS provider for some time now. The good news is that after the backup completes, the Software VSS provider does release the reservation, and the CSV volume exits Redirected Mode and goes back to "direct ...

Re: HA Network Failover Problem

Okay, regarding Issue 1, I was able to come up with a pretty decent DR scenario if I ever run into this in Production: - Delete HA Targets on NODE2 and recreate as basic disk images on NODE2, using same Aliases and IQNs. HyperV and VMs are now happy :) - Create New Temporary Targets on NODE2 - Perfo...
